JANUARY 6TH 2010 - The 3d Train Stuff crew hopes everyone had a great holiday season and wants to wish everyone a happy new year in 2010. We also want to take this time to give you an update on some of the projects and things we have been working on. First, the guys in the UK are making good progress on the S&D route and we hope to have it ready for release around May or June this year. Keep in mind that the guys are doing this stuff in their spare time and have personal lives so announced released dates are just a goal which we may or may not meet as our family lives come first.

On the USA side of things, 2009 was a busy year for us, we moved our studios up to Carmichael which is a nice quiet small community outside of Sacramento in northern california in order to downsize our operations and overhead due to the sluggish economy. Our address and phone number has changed so see our Contact Us page for the new contact info.

Regarding our Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) projects, we are putting the final touches on SP West Colton and its very close to being released we are shooting for February but as mentioned above we do have personal family lives. And in order to get the most out of our new route we will be suggesting that people try something called "MSTSBin". If you haven't tried MSTSBin yet you might want to check it out and see how it works. Basically its an unofficial patch for MSTS and you can learn more about it by running a search with the term "MSTSBin" in it on the internet.

Work also continues on the SP Coastal Route however its still a long, long ways from release so we don't have a release date yet. Many have asked about the scope of the project, it will include all of the Coast Subdivision between San Luis Obispo and Watsonville over 150 miles and it will be set in the pre merger era.

Regarding RailSimulator/RailWorks (RS/ RW), we have no plans to develop anything for the program at this time. Granted we worked on much of the North American content (Cajon) for Kuju however all of us were very disappointed in the final product. Yes, the scenery is absolutely breath taking however that does not make it a good sim and at this time after several updates to the program you still cannot create a wide variety of scenarios that work correctly, switches still need to be handled by the user instead of a dispatcher, and AI trains are difficult to make them go where you want them to go. There are also physics and lighting issues (my personal gripe) that still have not been addressed. With all that said, we do hope that the guys at RailWorks do get those things worked out as we really would like to make some prototype content with a human interest element in it for the program as it does have some promise in our opinion.

SP West Colton Route Project Update - Work on the route is going well and we are almost done. We are shooting for a late 2009 release! Here is a work in progress screenshot from near the admin building and hump tower.

SP Coastal Route Project - We have been secretly working on this project behind the scenes and we will release more information about the project once West Colton has been released.

S&D UK Route Project - Work is proceeding on schedule, and we are targeting a mid 2010 release.

AUGUST 12TH, 2008 - 3DTrainStuffUK's Martin Heywood has come up with a great way to beat those summer time blues, and that is to drive a "Dukedog" over Talerddig. Yes, Martin has created 8 fun activities for your enjoyment that range in difficulty from "easy" to "hard". There is also a manual to help you through some of the more difficult activities as well. By the way, our favorite activity here on the USA side of the pond was the "Express to Shrewsbury" which calls on 5 stations and is doubleheaded by two Dukedog locomotives!

FEBRUARY 8TH , 2008 - 3D Train Stuff Projects Update

Amtrak Genesis Pack 1 - Work is almost finished on our new P42s and we will be releasing them shortly. The addon will include 4 locomotives, custom sounds, day and night cabviews, and a couple of activities for our Cajon Pass route and an activity for the default NEC. We have also been hard at work on several new "Superliner" trainsets which will be released in the near future as seperate addons, however, we will be including with the P42s a free sample of that work in the form of a Superliner Coach car so look for this stuff later this month.

ESPEE CADILLACS PASSING BY SANTA FE'S FAMOUS COLTON TOWER

SP West Colton Route - This project has been in the works for over two years, originally we were going to do a point A to point B route over Beaumont Pass, however, the idea was scrapped some time ago in favor of doing something more focused around a large classification yard set back in the late 70s and early 80s. Many of our customers have expressed a want for something that would offer them a wider variety of proto-typical yard and local operations, something that would not get boring easily. And of course, due to much more work involved with a project like this it is taking a lot more time to develop than what we had thought (what else is new) so the release date has been pushed back to late Spring, however, we are confident that the wait will be worth it. Look for more information and screenshots regarding the project as we get closer to release.

Cambrian 2 Addon 1 - This project is almost finished, and will include new trainsets, 36 activities featuring diesel freight and passenger operations over the Cambrian Railway. However, we will first release 10 free activities by Martin Heywood which will encompass GWR and BR operations up to the 70s before we release the payware addon. Look for the free activities sometime in March.

JULY 14 TH, 2007 - We are still on track for releasing the Cambrian 2 this month so stay tuned. In the meantime here are a couple more teasers.

MAY 16TH, 2007 - For the better part of the last year 3D Train Stuff has been working on content for the RailSimulator™ program for Kuju Entertainment Ltd.

We are currently back to working on getting four new products ready for release this summer for the Microsoft® Train Simulator franchise (v1.0-v.1.2).

Regarding the "Cambrian 2" route, we have been working non-stop on the project for the last two years, and I am happy to report that we will be releasing the route very, very soon. And you will be happy to know that the scenery is much better than the first version, and even better than our Swanage Railway product.

Finally, we are happy to announce that have another North American route in the works that is set somewhere in the southwest (we are keeping the location close to our vest at the moment) which should be finished later this summer... so stay tuned as we have some cool stuff in the works for you! And in the meantime, as always, "keep'em on the high irons!"

NOVEMBER 11TH AND 12TH, 2006 - In support of the Western America Railroad Museum (WARM), the 3D Train Stuff crew will be at the Barstow Rail & Craft Fest this weekend, Nov. 11th and 12th at the beautiful Harvey House "Casa del Desierto" in Barstow California, where we will be showing some of our new products off, and a demo of Kuju Entertainment's upcoming new Rail Simulator program.
